Installation
Install Zurdo with Homebrew, the install script, or a release tarball.
zurdo v1.36.0
Zurdo ships as a pre-built binary from the public zurdo-dist releases, so you won't need a Rust toolchain.
What you'll need
- A supported platform. macOS on Apple Silicon, or Linux on x86_64 or aarch64. Intel Macs aren't supported yet.
- An agent CLI, signed in. Zurdo hands the work to an agent CLI, so have at least one of
claude,codexorcopilotready. See Configuration. - A git repository to run in.
Homebrew
brew install numeron-lab/zurdo/zurdo
This works on macOS and on Homebrew on Linux. It installs the shell completions and man pages too. brew upgrade zurdo moves you to the next release.
Install script
curl -fsSL https://github.com/numeron-lab/zurdo-dist/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh
The script picks the tarball for your platform and checks the release's signed checksums.txt before it writes anything. It installs zurdo to ~/.local/bin, with completions and man pages under ~/.local/share. If ~/.local/bin isn't on your PATH, it prints the line to add.
To pin a release or choose the directory, set ZURDO_VERSION or ZURDO_INSTALL_DIR:
curl -fsSL https://github.com/numeron-lab/zurdo-dist/releases/latest/download/install.sh | ZURDO_VERSION=1.36.0 ZURDO_INSTALL_DIR=/usr/local/bin sh
From a release tarball
Download the archive for your platform, check it against checksums.txt, then extract the binary:
VERSION=1.36.0
TARGET=aarch64-apple-darwin # or x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu
BASE="https://github.com/numeron-lab/zurdo-dist/releases/download/v${VERSION}"
curl -fsSLO "${BASE}/zurdo-v${VERSION}-${TARGET}.tar.gz"
curl -fsSLO "${BASE}/checksums.txt"
shasum -a 256 --check --ignore-missing checksums.txt # Linux: sha256sum --check --ignore-missing checksums.txt
tar -xzf "zurdo-v${VERSION}-${TARGET}.tar.gz" -C /usr/local/bin zurdo
Each archive also holds completions/ and man/, if you want them.
Check the install
zurdo --version
zurdo init # once per repository
zurdo doctor
zurdo doctor checks that the config loads, that each provider CLI is on your PATH, and that each mapped model is available to your account. See Commands.
Note
If zurdo: command not found follows a brew install on Linux, Homebrew's bin directory isn't on your PATH. Add eval "$(/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/bin/brew shellenv)" to ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc.
Carol, the companion for project management, installs from the same tap: brew install numeron-lab/zurdo/carol. See its Installation page.
